Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book?
As availability of yachts is constantly changing, and with different operators using different systems, displaying availability on one system is practically impossible. Clients and operators hold optional bookings which often cancel so what might not show as available can be free the following day. Also, as dates and duration can quite often be flexible, setting a charter price for something other than a 'standard' week is extremely complicated. This is where Top Yacht step in and start working for you.
Charter fees and discounts are ever changing, so it is best that we look on your behalf to get the latest availability and best possible pricing. If you see a suitable yacht on our website, just click the link for an enquiry advising your preferred dates and duration and we'll do the rest. We will write or call you with appropriate details and pricing, and then hold an optional booking for you so that you can discuss plans with the rest of your crew and make necessary travel arrangements. We then ask for a completed booking form and an initial deposit to confirm your reservation.
Pricing and discounts?
Pricing & reductions do vary depending upon availability and when you book. Prices on our website do not show early booking, multiple week or loyalty discounts as these change all the time - we'll always negotiate the best rates for you. If you are fortunate enough to be able to book last minute then there are some fantastic deals to be had. Do remember though that often airfares increase the later you book, possibly negating any saving made on the yacht. Repeat Top Yacht clients will also receive a little extra off their charter fee.
When should I book?
As soon as you can! Generally rates for the following year will be released around October/November preceding, along with early booking incentives. Usually we find by the time the Paris/London/Dusseldorf boat shows are upon us, key summer dates are already booked. This is June and September for the Med, and between December and April for the Caribbean & Asia. Also by booking the yacht early you can take advantage of generally much cheaper airfares.
How can I pay?
Our preferred method is by a direct transfer. We can also accept personal cheques, debit & credit cards, American Express & JCB. Card payments can be made in GBP, EURO and US$. Please note commercial or corporate cards attract a 1.5% surcharge.
How much experience do I need? Qualifications?
Quite simply, experience of chartering or skippering a yacht of similar size is prerequisite. Many destinations will require that the skipper has a practical sailing qualification such as RYA Day Skipper or an ICC, some locations also require the skipper to have a VHF/DSC license. Rules change constantly but we will of course advise prior to you making a booking.
All of the bareboat yachts we feature can be chartered with a skipper - either just for a day or two or for the whole charter. Prices vary but expect to pay between £100 - £150 per day plus food, and he/she will also require a cabin.
Absolutely not! With your quotation we will advise any additional mandatory and optional costs. These will also be detailed on your holiday invoice.
