The first known sailor to drop anchor off this green-and-blue isle was Christopher Columbus, who in 1492 declared it “the most beautiful land human eyes have seen”.
Yachting is still relatively new to Cuba so marinas currently are few. Quiet anchorages in uninhabited cays. Cuba is an ideal destination for charterers who have a little more sailing experience and are happier being 'away from it all'.

Tidal range is very small, and currents are generally weak.

Season: November to July. Trade winds from north east force 3-6 in winter, southeast 2-4 in summer. Sea temperature 26 – 29oC year round. Hurricane season August to October.

Cienfuegos City was founded by French colonists from Bordeaux and La Luisiana and still exudes a distinctly Gallic influence in its buildings. From the new marina in Cienfuegos you have direct access to the stunning islands along the southern coast of Cuba.
Getting to Cuba
From the UK the best option is are flights from Gatwick to Havana with Virgin Atlantic and Cubana. Flight time is approximately 9 1/2 hours and transfers can be arranged to the base.
