Marinas, Harbours & Anchorages
Marinas on some of the resort islands may be expensive; plenty of anchorages, some with mooring buoys. Ashore there are white sandy beaches and forested hills.
Weather
Summer (November-May) has average monthly temperatures up to 30oC, with winds at force 3-5, with occasional rain showers and a risk of cyclones in January and February. Winter (June-August) is cooler at about 23oC with slightly stronger south-easterly trade winds.
Charter bases
Airlie Beach
On the mainland coast and within easy reach of Proserpine airport which has connections to major Australian cities. Provisions can be obtained locally, and the marina is well positioned for setting off to the islands. There are good restaurants and some shops on resort islands.
Hamilton Island
Approximately 15 miles from the mainland and with its own airport, an ideal embarkation or disembarkation point .
