Marinas, Harbours & Anchorages
The Balearic Islands have numerous modern marinas with a full range of facilities, as well as harbours with yacht club berths for visitors. There are a few undeveloped fishing harbours, and many beautiful sheltered anchorages.
Tides & Currents
The tidal range is very small, and currents are generally weak.
Weather
Season: April to October. Winds are variable, generally light sea breezes from the east or south-east.
Food & Wine
In Palma there are large markets for fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, meat and cheese, and there are local markets in towns and villages around the islands. Restaurants offer a wide range of styles, from simple fresh fish and salads to sophisticated international cuisine. Local wines are produced.
History
The Balearic islands lie on major trading routes across the Mediterranean, and have a rich and varied history. The city of Palma has Roman remains, but the most prominent historic buildings are the Moorish royal palace and the Gothic cathedral.
A formal practical Skipper’s Certificate is required.
